HODINKEE Horween Shell Cordovan Made in the USA Straps
For over a year now we've been bringing you hand-made Italian leather fake watch straps and pouches, and just a few weeks ago we added some nylon NATO straps to the mix. Well today we're bringing you another new addition to the HODINKEE Shop: Horween Shell Cordovan straps made right here in the USA. We've got both lined and unlined straps in a variety of sizes and colors, so there really is a perfect strap for almost every watch.
Lined Shell Cordovan Strap In Color #8
If you haven't heard of Horween, you've been missing out. Based in downtown Chicago for the last century, Horween makes some of the finest leather in the world. If you've ever thrown an official regulation football, you've handled Horween leather. But what Horween is most famous for is their Shell Cordovan, which is the gold standard across the footwear and leathergoods industries.
The process starts off with ethically sourced horse hides (no horses are killed for their skins) and then the hides go through a proprietary six-month tanning process. Only the shells, which are two round sections by the horse's hindquarters, become cordovan (hence the name Shell Cordovan), which has a slightly glossy surface, is extremely tough, and takes on an unbelievable patina over time.
Unlined HODINKEE Horween Shell Cordovan Straps
Our HODINKEE Shell Cordovan straps come in two varieties, lined and unlined, and both are made right in Illinois, not too far from where the leather itself is created. The unlined straps are a flexible strip of shell cordovan with a steel buckle closure and matching stitching that almost disappears. It really doesn't get any more comfortable than these straps and they can look casual or dressy depending on the fake watch they're on. On the underside you'll find a special HODINKEE/Horween logo that recalls the Horween logo stamped onto the raw shells at the Chicago tannery. We're offering both 18mm and 20mm variations in black, natural, and Color #8 (a rich burgundy color that is the origin of people calling this color "cordovan").
Lined And Stitched Shell Cordovan Straps
Then we have the lined cordovan straps as well. These are sportier and have a thin cushioned lining sewn into them with matching thread. They feature the same steel hardware and you'll find "HODINKEE" stamped on one side and "Horween Shell Cordovan" on the other. The padding in these straps makes wearing slightly heavier replica watches easier, so we've had these made in both 20mm and 22mm variations, again in black, natural, and Color #8.
